“Oh, Elly! These are glorious!”
So, in April this year, my lovely cousin John got hitched to the equally lovely Clare. I’d kind of anticipated that’d it be awesome – they’re both brilliant people and Clare is an actual organising wizard – but nothing could quite prepare me for what was in store. When written down it essentially becomes a great long list of “things that will cause me to squeak and clap like a seal” (not even kidding). If you like the sound of co-ordinating converse, matching yellow shades, vintage buses, a gorgeous Springtime-y colour scheme AND gloriously nerd-chic table names, you’re going to love this.
The day started over in sunny Leire at my Aunt and Uncle’s house where I was to drop my lovely fella / mega assistant, Dan, to catch some groom prep before I disappeared off down the road to the land of bridal prep. It all looked a bit like this:
I totally adored the colour scheme running throughout this wedding. Springtime-y and totally perfect. I potentially loved the reaction from Clare’s bridesmaids when they finally got to see her in the dress a little bit more though. Just look at this:
With all the prep done and everyone looking incredible, it was time to get to the church. Boy did the bridal party go in style. Hello vintage bus!
You’ll be pleased to know that the guests and I managed to arrive just before the bus. Clare had been so organised that they were running phenomenally early! So early, in fact, that the bus had to go round the block a couple of times to give everyone a chance to actually get inside. Spectacular effort!
Shortly after exiting the church and bounding around with excitement for a bit, I witnessed my first ever “TOTALLY JUST GOT MARRIED!” high-five. Incredible. We had just enough time to get a few lovely snaps before the bus left for the reception venue…
A few wiggly country roads later and we arrived at the reception: an incredible marquee set-up avec some of my favourite details ever. Keep scrolling to see what I mean…
As if the day wasn’t beauteous enough already, the sun came out good and proper in time for the group photos. The group photos featuring matching yellow sunglasses. Oh yes!
Group photos done, the reception got into full swing. The speeches were brilliant (kudos, guys!), there was lasagna and an ice cream van and a sweet stall and a massive cheeseboard and a ceilidh and an impromptu giant conga line amongst other things. There was also the most intense game of giant Jenga EVER. My shoulders took, like, a full three days to un-knot again. Probably. Anyway, it was wonderful and looked like this:
There you have it! A gorgeous day with lots of gorgeous people. And giant Jenga. And dinosaurs. Congrats, John and Clare!
Until next time,
