“I’ve always imaged myself getting married in a barn or a field, with bunting, miss matched furniture, wild flowers and quirky house hold accessories. Over the years I’ve created such a beautiful visual of a shabby bohemian wedding I felt it would be a waste to save it just for myself one day!”
This was the thinking behind Cathy Gater’s rather beauteous new wedding styling venture, Boelle Events, and I love it. What a gorgeous reason to start up a company, right? Cathy, who was in my little sister’s year at school, got in touch with me about doing a styled shoot for the upcoming company website a short while back and, the moment she started describing her ideas, there was absolutely NO WAY I was going to let anyone else take these photos. (Seriously. You remember the “MINE? MINE! MINE!” seagulls from Finding Nemo? Yep. That was pretty much me.) It really was such a genuine pleasure to see someone throw themselves so passionately into a project and to see all of the themes and ideas, which had clearly been developing for a while, truly come to fruition.
“Boelle Events is an up-and-coming bespoke bohemian wedding and accessory hire service based in Derbyshire. The company provides unique, upcycled wedding furniture and a selection of lovingly sourced crockery. Offering accessory hire, venue styling and a dedicated wedding coordinator, their boho, flea-market chic style can put a quirky yet elegant twist on any venue.”
“Quirky yet elegant” is a perfect description of what these guys do. It was bright and colourful and wonderfully mismatched, and I was more than a tiny bit in love with the incredible floral arrangements provided by Claire Lambeth. Everything had been so carefully considered and put together, but without ever feeling forced.
The shoot took place at a farm belonging to Cathy’s boyfriend’s family, the (GORGEOUS) naked cake was made by some family friends and the models and extras were comprised of friends and a few actors. There was such a feeling of love and community surrounding the business that it actually felt quite like a real wedding?! Major kudos to all involved, this event really was a genuine pleasure to photograph. Even the truly torrential rain which sporadically chose to bombard us failed to ruin the shoot.
Right, I’ll stop waffling now and just show you the rest of the snaps. Grab a brew, sit back and enjoy the beautiful boho goodness:
They do a rather beautiful set-up, no?
Huge congrats to the whole team on the day, and thank you for making my job so easy!
Until next time,
